On behalf of the Malaysian Gas Association, it indeed gives me great pleasure to welcome members as well as visitors to MGA’s Website.
MGA was formed on 21st July 1986 as a nonprofit organization to serve as an effective platform to bring together the key industry players to work towards a common vision for the promotion and further development of natural gas to fuel Malaysia’s journey of transformation to a fully developed nation by 2020.
Our founder members include PETRONAS, Shell, BP and Caltex and the initial Corporate Members include Malaysian LNG Sdn Bhd, PETRONAS Gas Berhad, Sabah Energy Corporation Sdn Bhd and Gas Malaysia Sdn Bhd. Over the years, the Association has charted two decades of ‘Powering Growth’ towards the promotion of the gas industry and gas utilization as a clean and efficient source of energy for economic and social development and nation building.
Today, MGA has more than 130 Corporate and Honorary members hailing from the gas and gas-related fraternities covering companies involved in gas and oil exploration, production, processing and transmission, industrial consumers, power generation, distribution and reticulation, logistic services, EPCC, consultancy, research and academic, materials, equipment, trading and regulatory agencies.
Globally, MGA is an active member of the International Gas Union (IGU) which is the most influential, effective and independent spokesman for the gas industry worldwide. MGA is honored to be elected to the Vice Presidency role of the IGU for the triennium 2006 to 2009. This will culminate in the helming of the IGU Presidency seat for year 2009 to 2012 leading to the hosting of the prestigious World Gas Conference (WGC) in Kuala Lumpur. With this forefront representation and leadership role in the highly respected world gas body, we have made opportune inroads in the international gas arena.
Ample opportunities and openings are made available to our members who are interested in broadening their business base and to venture internationally. Members could come on board by participating in IGU organized events and functions and to contribute by sharing their expertise in participating in collaborative projects. This would indeed add value and serve to enhance our positioning and competitive advantage domestically, regionally as well as internationally. In this respect, therefore, I would like to invite our members to come on board to experience international exposure as well as to broaden business networking.
Our Association is also an active member of GASEX (Gas Information Exchange in Western Pacific Area). GASEX membership comprises of members from 11 countries/gas associations from Australia, Brunei, China, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, New Zealand, Papua New Guinea, Philippines, Taiwan and Vietnam.
Over the years MGA has also forged warm and close rapport with regional and global gas associations, especially associations from China, Croatia, Denmark, Holland, India, Indonesia, Ireland, Japan, Korea, Norway, Russia, Singapore, Spain, Taiwan, Thailand and the United States of America. These ties have certainly served to enhance our relations and networking to evolve an important platform for the sharing and exchanging of information and expertise across the globe.
The MGA website has been set up to enable members as well as the public to have online access to our homepage.
We will be building up and enhancing our contents in the near future and we highly appreciate and welcome your constructive comment, feedback and input. To all MGA Members, please join us in maintaining a Website that is truly beneficial, informative and interactive for the timely dissemination of relevant information to our members as well as projecting the commitment and dedication of MGA to contribute to the promotion and development of the gas industry in Malaysia.

International Affiliations & Achievements
Anticipating the important role that natural gas is set to play in the Malaysian energy scene, PETRONAS took the initiative to interest some key players in the Malaysian gas industry to form the Malaysian Gas Association (MGA). This "nonprofit" organization was registered on July 21, 1986 as Persatuan Gas Malaysia.
The objectives of the Malaysian Gas Association are:
A Logo, which falls under a category that embraces both the essence of typography and imagery, has been developed. This is normally known as an alphagyphic symbol. A combination of pictorial nuance, in this case, the Oil Drop (Oil and Gas Industry) and Industrial Icon (representing the end users Industries and homes), creating and impression of 'G' for Gas as one of the main vital energy resources in the empowerment of growth and international development. The combination also creates alphabets 'a' and 'm' which represents Association and Malaysia. The strong yet bold parallel lines, linking both pictorial elements, create a distinct and avant garde mark. The design is simple, as it is intended to be. As such it represents sophistications and style - attributes that reflect internationalism. The lines also symbolise pipelines and gas distribution networks, local and international. Colours chosen for the Corporate Signature have reference to that of the Malaysian Flag, which are Blue and Red. Black is introduced to give contrast to the Logo. For the Logotype, Frutiger Light typeface is adopted for its simplicity and elegance.
