06 Jul 2009

The Malaysian Gas Association (MGA) hosted a tea talk on the topic “The AirAsia X Story : Daring to Be Different!” on 26 June 2009 at the Impiana Hotel and Spa, Kuala Lumpur. More than sixty participants comprising of members of MGA, guests and affiliates listened to the highly inspiring and enriching talk delivered by En Azran Osman Rani, CEO of AirAsia X. The phenomenal compound annual growth rate of 51% attained from year 2002 till 2009 despite the occurrences of worldwide tumultuous events such as the Sept-11 attacks in USA, SARS, bird flu, tsunami, riots/coups, oil spike and the recent financial crisis, is indeed exceptionally commendable for this fledging pioneer of low-cost long haul airline. Sharing on the various challenges faced for long haul flights, the price-sensitive and time-sensitive nature of its operations and the ‘revolutionary’ and innovative measures adopted to bring the company to where it is today, provided an inspiring insight to the ingenuity, hard work and perseverance of AirAsia X to ‘believe the unbelievable’, ‘dream the impossible’ and ‘don’t take no for an answer’ vested beliefs. Moving forward the organization seeks to challenge the norm and status quo i.e. ‘dare to be different’, keep a close pulse on the consumer’s true needs, keep things simple through relentless focused execution and to persevere with its team of dedicated and passionate staff who are provided with openness in work style and ample opportunities to move up, excel and to achieve their ambitions based on their personal capabilities and performance. Overall the attendees found the talk to be very beneficial, inspiring and informative and were impressed with the global quantum leap achieved by Malaysia’s homegrown company, AirAsia X. Top
