PRESTIGE Grand Final, 17-18 Dec 2011, Prince Hotel & Residence, KL 18 Jan 2012 The MGA together with key industry experts and speakers from Shell, ExxonMobil,PETRONAS, EcoKnights (NGO), Gas Malaysia and Department of Safety and Health (DOSH) once again joined forces to manage the PRESTIGE Grand Final 2011. This year’s PRESTIGE program marked the end or closing of the first round of PRESTIGE Program which started way back in 2008.
7th Asian Pipeline Conference and Exhibition (APCE), 11 & 12 October 201, Istana Hotel, KL 24 Oct 2011 Once again, the Malaysian Gas Association (MGA) together with PETROMIN joined forces to organize the 7th Asian Pipeline Conference & Exhibition on 11 & 12 October 2011. Istana Hotel was chosen as the venue for the conference. This year’s conference’s theme, “Overcoming Challenges in Pipelines” ties in with the backdrop of the depressed economic environment and the difficult times faced by the oil and gas industry amidst ageing pipelines, rising cost and uncertain demand arising from the fragile and turbulent state of the world’s economy.
MGA 2011 Hari Raya Open House, 22 Sept, Equatorial Hotel, KL 30 Sep 2011 The President and Council Members of MGA on Thursday, 22 September 2011, hosted about 200 MGA members and invited guests at MGA Hari Raya open house. The Hari Raya Open house was held at Nipah Coffee Shop, Equatorial Hotel, Kuala Lumpur.

THE 24th ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING (AGM) OF THE MALAYSIAN GAS ASSOCIATION HELD ON WEDNESDAY, 12 MAY 2010 AT THE IMPIANA HOTEL KLCC, KUALA LUMPUR The Malaysian Gas Association (MGA) held its 24th Annual General Meeting (AGM) on 12th May 2010 at the Impiana Hotel KLCC. In conjunction with the AGM, the association hosted a knowledge sharing tea talk for members and affiliates and also a mock cheque presentation event to two charitable bodies prior to the convening of the AGM. Dr Abrizah Ousman, an Aesthetic Physician from the Imperial Medical Centre, Kuala Lumpur shared on the topic ‘Aging in the 21st Century’. The group of more than forty attendees were enlightened on what is healthy aging and acquainted with ways to slow down the aging process in the fast-paced and stressful lifestyles of today. The Speaker also expounded on the process of aging, what are free radicals and antioxidants, on stress and aging and the current available treatments for slowing down the aging process.

The Council of MGA has approved the donation of RM30,000 to the MyKasih Foundation and the Children’s Cancer Fund of the University of Malaya Medical Centre (UMMC). The association has raised the funds from the organizing of a Charity Golf event in December 2009.

Mr Jeffrey Perera, the Chief Executive Officer of the MyKasih Foundation delivered a presentation on the overall operations of the foundation. MGA’s donation of RM15,000 will be channeled towards the provision of food aid to 15 selected families in the Pandan Jaya community to purchase essential household food items.

Dr Chong Lee Ai, the Chairman of the Children’s Cancer Fund and a senior lecturer at UMMC, shared on the administration of the fund and the activities carried out for the recipients who are young cancer patients from poor families in need of financial and emotional assistance.

The two mock cheques of RM15,000 each were presented by Datuk Dr Abdul Rahim Hashim, the President of MGA and also the President of the International Gas Union to Tan Sri Dato’ Seri Megat Najmuddin Datuk Seri Dr Haji Megat Khas, a Director of MyKasih Foundation and to Dr Chong Lee Ai of the Children’s Cancer Fund of UMMC.

The 24th AGM of the association convened from 3:50 p.m to 5:05 p.m. The six (6) items on the meeting agenda were tabled and duly deliberated. The seven resolutions proposed were duly accepted and approved at the AGM. A Special Council meeting of the association was held immediately after the adjournment of the AGM to formalize the appointment of the office bearers for MGA. The meeting unanimously agreed to the appointment of Datuk Dr Abdul Rahim Hashim of PETRONAS as the President, Mr Wong Seng Kee of Shell Company Ltd as the Vice President and Mr Ngau Boon Keat of Dialog Group as the Treasurer of the association.
